The Social Services Center of the City of Torre Pacheco hosts a sports activity called "Social Workshops" free registration, organized by the Department of Sports with the Department of Social Services and Equality of the City Council.
This program is based on the firm conviction that physical activity is a vehicle for personal and social development, and that it is a very powerful tool to break the circle of social exclusion and promote healthy habits.
The beneficiary population has been 10 adults at risk of social exclusion who, due to their personal situation, have problems of self-esteem with serious problems of social-labor integration.
These workshops have meant much more to them than the realization of a physical activity since they have facilitated interpersonal relationships, establishing links among the participants and thus favoring their social integration.
The Mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio Leon, accompanied by the Councilor for Social Services and Equality, Veronica Martinez and the Councilor for Sports, Raul Lledó have held a meeting in the morning today to meet the participants in the project and their concerns and future projects.
The activities started on 11/21/2017 until 12/14/2017, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, in the morning (from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), with a total of 6 sessions, 2 Pilates, 2 Fitness and 2 Hiking.
The workshop has been a success for what will be done in the coming months in the districts of Torre-Pacheco.
"The objective of this workshop has been to promote the biopsychosocial well-being of people in situations of vulnerability by providing meeting spaces in which to establish social relationships as well as to experience the benefits of practicing a sports activity" commented Councilor for Social Services, Verónica Martínez
