José Martínez Martínez, 11 years old and neighbor of Balsicas, has submitted his candidacy to the selection process organized by UNCICEF Spanish Committee and the Platform of Childhood to represent the children of Torre Pacheco in the second appearance of boys and girls to be held within the framework of the Permanent Commission on Children and Adolescents Rights of the Congress of Deputies.
For the hearing, which will take place in January 2018, eight boys and girls can vote for representatives of Councils or other bodies for children's participation, as well as projects for the participation of social entities that have permanent participation structures and dynamics.
If selected, the candidate will act as spokesperson for the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents of Torre Pacheco before the Congress, also representing all the children of the Spanish State.
José Martínez is, for the second consecutive year, one of the two representatives of the students of the CEIP Garre Alpáñez de Balsicas in the Council.
On November 25, he was elected by the other members of this participation body as its President, expressing his commitment to promote the participation of minors in the decision-making that affects them, with the aim of improving the lives of children. boys and girls from Torre Pacheco.
This Council is an example of the commitment of the Municipality of Torre Pacheco with the promotion of the direct participation of the population in making decisions that affect daily life, gathering the opinions, demands and proposals of the minors of the municipality.
