The International Security Observatory and the City Council of Torre-Pacheco have developed a technical-training seminar on security related to the phenomenon of jihadist terrorism, from the description of the threat, its actors, methodology, self-protective techniques and the analysis of the phenomenon of jihadist terrorism as a threat in the urban environment, from a perspective of paradigmatic analysis, the deployment of protection measures and prospective suggestions.
The opening of the Day was attended by the Mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio León, as well as members of the Municipal Corporation.
León has been in charge of presenting the speakers, José María Gil, expert in International Security, advisor to the United Nations;
and Manuel Gazapo, director of the Observatory of International Security, both experts on jihadist terrorism issues.
Jihadist terrorism;
his methodologies of attack, protective behavior and self-protection, ways of acting the security forces in the face of an attack, have been issues addressed by Gil in his presentation, also giving some proposals that go beyond the police response to jihadist terrorism.
A day, in which the participants have been able to be clear on what the threat consists of and know how to respond beyond police tactics.
Likewise, Gazapo focused his presentation on the analysis of the terrorist threat, the way of acting at an urban level, how Torre-Pacheco can face this threat and prevent it intelligently;
as well as, it has given a battery of easy solutions, not only for the police but also for citizens in order to identify potential situations of risk or social conflict.
In addition, during the day participants have known different methodologies on how to react to an attack or an emergency situation, crisis, knowing measures of dialogue and intellectual recognition so that social conflicts that may occur between neighbors are the least difficult, and in this way, prevent breeding grounds that take advantage of this threat.
The objective of this training day has been to make available to local police and citizens, measures, tools, instruments, to make life safer and prevent risk situations in the future.
