The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García, opened today the streets of the City and Vicente Antón, after urban renewal works financed by the regional government and the municipality in these two downtown public spaces in the municipality.
The works have been performed on two adjacent squares with a total surface area of ​​4,000 square meters and have involved the comprehensive renovation of the main meeting point for the residents of Torre Pacheco.
"This action revives the urban image of the center of Torre Pacheco, making available to all residents an open public space, modern and adapted to their needs, to share cultural and leisure activities," said José Ballesta.
Specifically, the project was carried out on the shaft between the Rambla and the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The works have included the replacement of pavement, installation of new street furniture and lighting system, replanting of trees and replacement of equipment.
The works, which have involved a total investment of 541,635 euros, have been funded 75 percent by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, while the Torre Pacheco Town Council has provided 25 per cent.
"One of the priority policies for the regional government is the regeneration and revitalization of the urban fabric of historic sites and neighborhoods in 45 municipalities in the Region."
In the center of Torre Pacheco has undertaken the creation of a large public space that "improving the urban image of the municipality and also contributes to improved quality of life of citizens," the counselor.
