The Minister of Social Policy, Gender and Immigration, Joaquín Bascuñana, accompanied by the managing director of the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS), Isabel Sola, attended today's XXVI Senior Living Day, held at the sports center of Roland (Torre Pacheco) and attended by some 1,000 seniors.
One year, members of the senior centers of IMAS and municipal district of Cartagena and Mar Menor and other parts of the Region, met at Roland on a day they shared the paella prepared by different the elderly themselves.
The sports 'Gabriel Pérez Sánchez' was the meeting point of members assigned to centers of La Union, Cartagena, San Javier, Puerto de Mazarron, Fuente Alamo, Torre Pacheco, accompanied by mayors and councilors of the municipalities.
After tasting the paella and listening to the speeches from the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García Madrid, as head of the host municipality, commemorative gifts were delivered to participating schools.
The event, presented by the director of the Center for Senior Day Roldán, Gabina Roca, was closed by the Minister Joaquin Bascuñana, underlining its "satisfaction go, once again, this time of coexistence", and highlighted main activities carried out by senior centers throughout the year.
The musical duo 'Lemon Mint' entertained the dance that was held on premises, which culminated in another edition of this journey of living, which began to be held in Roland in 1985.
