The mayor of Torre Pacheco has opened this morning in the classroom workshop Day Care Center of Torre Pacheco's workshop "take care of our memory."
The Municipal Institute for Social Action Services City Council Torre-Pacheco (IMSAS) launches the Eighth Workshop on Cognitive stimulation for the elderly.
Many of the problems of memory are not the major concern related to the disease but the lack of stimulation, care and training or affective and emotional problems.
That is why it is necessary to offer training programs that help preserve cognitive abilities as long as possible in order to preserve the autonomy, teaching specific strategies for solving the most common everyday forgetfulness in older people.
In this sense, the workshop aims for its participants know the basic workings of memory, changing attitudes and negative stereotypes about the irreversibility of the changes or memory deficits, train them in strategies and specific techniques that can be transferred to daily life improve mood and self-esteem of participants and facilitate communication among its members.
Among the activities in the field of health promotion, those related to memory are the most interest in the elderly.
