Campaign Reading Promotion is a contest for municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants to reward the best projects and activities developed in their reading dynamic libraries with the aim of promoting reading among all social groups, especially among children and youth, which constitute the basis for future adult readers.
This action encourages small towns and develops a work in promoting reading in places where there is usually very difficult to access the book.
This program presents a great strategic importance, as approximately half of the Spanish population resides in municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants, with which this initiative has great impact on the area.
The activities rewarded in the campaigns to encourage reading since 1998 are contained in the Census of activities to promote reading.
The aim of the census is to spread the activities carried out in Spain by public and private institutions contribute their experiences in the field of reading promotion, and help all those interested in promoting such activities.
