The City of Torre-Pacheco, through the Program for Promotion of Health and framed in the Municipal Plan for the Prevention of Drug Addiction launches course for families entitled "Family Health", which was inaugurated yesterday by the Mayor of Torre Pacheco.
It is obvious to state that the family is the first instance of socialization and an institution that has a large influence on the formation and development of children and youth.
It is in your heart where they, through learning and observing the behaviors of adults are trained to live in society, which surely will have to face drug availability.
This course aims to provide objective information about legal and illegal drugs and the risks of consumption, promote a healthy family environment, promote healthy behaviors among adolescents and to develop social skills conducive to greater autonomy and better coping life events in adolescents.
The course is aimed at families with children or teenage girls aged 12 to 16 years in which there is a fundamental starting consumption of a substance or families who have no signs of initiation of smoking in their sons or daughters but are living family situations involving a conflict risk factor for it.
The project consists of 12 sessions, which began yesterday and ends on March 1.
During this period will be held 5 sessions with adolescents among which are issues of decision making, peer pressure, impulse control.
5 sessions will take place in parallel with mothers and fathers to be addressed in the characteristics of adolescence, educational styles, negotiation techniques, constructive criticism and the myths and realities of drugs.
The last two sessions will be joint with the children and will focus on communication styles and strategies.
The course takes place at the Municipal Service for Social Action (IMSAS) in schedule 20 to 22 hours.
The course is given to 15 families (fathers, mothers and children).
45 people in total.
