This morning the General Manager of Citizen and Drug Addiction, Juan Manuel Ruiz, Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García and Fernando Martin, vice president of strategic development and training of the Sea International University today presented the course 'Model Matrix Intensive Psychosocial Treatment of Addiction ', part of the activities of the International University of the Sea, which this year will take place in the center of Roland Valdez Neurocultura in Torre-Pacheco, from today until July 11, 2013.
This training activity with a duration of 25 hours of theory and practice, aims to collect and provide knowledge to university students, professionals and people interested in the prevention and treatment of drug dependence to promote the use of best practices and empirical models for treatment of addictions.
The Matrix Model Intensive Treatment for patients addicted to substances of abuse was established at the University of California (Los Angeles) to provide a compressive perspective in the treatment of addictions.
Although initially focused on the problem of cocaine use, now has spread to psychostimulants and other substance addictions, based on cognitive-behavioral interventions.
Treatment focuses on modifying the patient's lifestyle, training in relapse prevention, education agencies and family participation.
This is to restructure certain ways of thinking, increasing the capacity to deal with the stressors in the addict's life.
