This morning the Director General of Public Health and Addictions, Francisco José García Ruiz, the mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Pedro Marin and Fina Miralles, training and innovation Vice Chancellor of the International University of the Sea today inaugurated the course 'Matrix Model Treatment Intensive Psychosocial Addiction ', framed in the activities of the Sea International University and is back this year to develop in the center of Valdez Neurocultura Roldan, Torre-Pacheco, from today until September 19.
This training activity with a duration of 25 hours of theory and practice, aims to collect and provide knowledge to university students, professionals and individuals interested in the prevention and treatment of drug dependence to promote the use of best practices and empirical models for treatment addictions.
The Matrix Model Intensive Treatment for substance abuse addicts patients was established at the University of California (Los Angeles) to provide a compressive perspective in the treatment of addictions.
Although initially focused on the problem of cocaine use, currently it has spread to psychostimulants and other substance addictions, based on cognitive-behavioral interventions.
Treatment focuses on modifying the patient's lifestyle, training in relapse prevention, education agencies and the family involvement.
It is to restructure certain ways of thinking, increasing the capacity to deal with stressors in the addict's life.
