This morning the Mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Marin and Fina UCOMUR President, Juan Antonio Pedroza, presented the Gala XXIV World Day of Cooperatives, which will take place on October 24 at the Center for Performing Arts in Torre-Pacheco.
It is a day of meeting all cooperative members and those who have contributed to the promotion and development of this model in the region.
The theme of this edition is 'Cooperatives and Social Economy contribute to the post-crisis'.
Thus, the importance of cooperatives have right now to maintain and create jobs, more stable and quality is displayed.
This other way of doing business has become an inexpensive alternative to overcome the current situation, highlighting, inter alia, because the person is above the capital, profits are reinvested to improve competitiveness, wealth is redistributed and values ​​such as democracy, equality, solidarity and social cohesion are key.
The start of the event is scheduled for 20.00.
The mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Fina Otto Marin and UCOMUR president, Juan Antonio Pedroza, will be responsible for welcoming the public are expected to fill the room.
UCOMUR also delivered as each year their Rainbow Awards to recognize those individuals, organizations and institutions that have been most prominent and best represent the values ​​of this business model.
The winners in this edition are cooperatives Mula Comfort, and Virgin Prematrans Pasico;
the cooperative Pedro Carrillo, Artellano;
Ciriec and Unicef, and Salaberría Javier, president of Fagor Appliances and Cicopa, the International Organization of Cooperatives of Industrial, Artisanal and Service, who died last July;
and Fernando Velez, director general of labor.
Also a tribute to the city of Torre Pacheco for his contribution to the development of the cooperative movement is performed.
The event will be attended by the Minister for Employment and Fatima Banez, President of the Community, Alberto Garre, and Secretary of State for Employment, Engracia Hidalgo, along with representatives of the regional government and major political parties, as well as labor, business and social organizations;
