The City of Torre-Pacheco signed an agreement with SODITOR for healthy breakfasts
This morning the Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Fine Marin and President Otto SODITOR (Diabetic Association of Torre-Pacheco), have signed Jose Sanchez sang in the Press Room of the City of Torre-Pacheco an agreement under the program promotion of healthy eating.
Thanks to this agreement will be developed the "Healthy Breakfast", in development since 2007 in schools in the municipality.
This activity will begin tomorrow and will be implemented in all schools in the municipality with dining area, as well as conducting talks in secondary schools, to what is budgeted to run the amount of € 2,000
In this regard, in previous years, the association of diabetes Soditor has actively collaborated with the staff of the Department of Health in the development of educational activities in the municipality.
This partnership was consolidated in 2010 with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the association and IMSAS development of "Healthy Breakfast" project.
Moreover, this association has the technical personnel necessary for the development of this program.
First, an information campaign was conducted by distributing brochures that provide information on how to be a healthy breakfast and how it influences the attitude of parents in the purchase of certain food-related behaviors.
Reference to the importance of breakfast to cognitive performance is made, including a weekly plan for school breakfast and healthy eating recommendations according to age.
Activity continues with the realization of a healthy breakfast for parents and children of 1st and 2nd Primary Education schools in the county that offer room service.
Once had breakfast, the children return to their classrooms and parents attend a talk on healthy eating taught by a diploma in dietetics and nutrition.
Last year the City of Torre-Pacheco initiative Antena 3 "lug" acknowledged the draft Torre-Pacheco "Healthy Breakfast" that seeks to promote healthy eating, encourage physical exercise and avoid diseases associated with childhood obesity .
It also provides parents with tools that allow them to educate their children in acquiring healthy eating habits.
