The regional chief executive, Alberto Garre, Torre Pacheco today chaired the closing session of the General Assembly Gregal Sociedad Cooperativa, where he highlighted the history of the company and its commitment to the town.
"Gregal is an example," said the president of the Community, who said that the cooperative is composed some 137 members and produces over 90,000 tons of fruits and vegetables every year, 39 million euro marketing.
He also stressed that the pachequera cooperative employs around 600 people, of which 355 are fixed and any rest.
"If it's important economic work they do, much more is social work seeking a number of families eating precisely these kinds of establishments," he said.
For the president Garre, "farmers in Torre Pacheco are, with all farmers in Murcia, the best in the world", and highlighted the legal breakthrough in water issues that have been experiencing, using scarce resources that are available to become the first exporters of fruits and vegetables in Spain.
In this regard, he recalled that 30 percent of vegetables produced in Spain are grown precisely in Murcia and 70 percent are shipped to Europe.
