The Strategy of Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development (EDUSI) improve the quality of life in the city in an integrated manner through social cohesion, the fight against poverty, the promotion of low-carbon economy, environmental sustainability and optimizing the use of resources and information technology and communications.
The first plenary session of 2016, extraordinary, the City of Torre-Pacheco has approved the Strategy of Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development (EDUSI) with the Torre-Pacheco will receive four million euros from the European Union if its implementation is approved.
The main objective of the EDUSI is to improve the quality of life for residents of Torre-Pacheco of an integrated and sustainable manner.
The strategy is structured around the following thematic objectives: social inclusion;
Low carbon economy;
Information technology and communications;
and Environment.
This project has taken into account citizen participation, with, economic social groups, neighborhood, youth, seniors, women and all those who have desired and specialists involved and participate through their suggestions and contributions.
The strategy covers the period 2016-2020, and among its main actions may include: rehabilitation and intervention in the neighborhoods of San Antonio and San Juan;
recovery of the building of the former health center to boost tourism and business sector also making it the center of citizen participation;
improving energy efficiency in public buildings;
rehabilitation, regeneration and enhancement of green areas in urban areas, complete renovation of the Park of the Constitution;
social integration plan for youth at risk of social exclusion through education and professional qualifications in the specialty of gardening and subsequent employment for the development of actions related to the regeneration of green spaces and sinks of CO2, for those over 45 years long-term unemployed, will be launched also plans to integrate with training programs specializing in masonry and subsequent employment related to rehabilitation of buildings and housing, promotion of entrepreneurship by creating actions that give companies value to local agricultural production, a strategic plan for Culture, launched a green belt of sustainable organic farming is created by reducing pesticide use and reduced soil pollution by nitrates, improved services public through eGovernment, actions to promote equal opportunities, promotion and revitalization of cultural and artistic initiatives promoting cultural diversity.
The EDUSI has been valued at 4,995,580 euros, of which 20% must be addressed and financed with municipal funds.
The EDUSI responds to the reality of people living in Torre Pacheco and which are the main protagonists and receiving it, in order to make a city more and more livable, efficient, intelligent, with more and better jobs, accessible day sustainable and attractive for the residents and visitors alike.
