The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, today urged the regional agricultural sector to "maintain a strong and innovative industry," as applied "constant technological development in production systems to be more competitive."
The owner of Agriculture and Water made the remarks during a visit to the company Sogesol, located in Torre Pacheco, specializing in Fourth Gama.
Councilor Murcia, accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Daniel García Madrid, stressed "the growing trend of companies in the Region" to implement "the highest technologies and introduce new products in the markets."
He emphasized the "firm commitment" by the quality guaranteed by the raw material and food security as "essential requirement of productive and commercial development."
Cerdá Murcia recalled that agriculture is a dynamic sector in production and training, "adding that generates economic values in excess of 1,500 million euros annually and employs 14 percent of the population.
He reiterated that it is the only sector that can mitigate the effects of the crisis because "sell abroad more than it buys."
The owner of Agriculture toured the facilities of the company, dedicated to producing fruits and vegetables prepared and packaged for consumption (Fourth Gama).
Sogesol Bakkavör belongs to the group that operates in ten countries and 2,000 million invoices per year, with prospects of up to 5,000 million in 2012.
Sogesol expanded facilities occupy an area of 5,477 meters square covered with an investment of more than five million euros, of which 1.2 have been provided by the Department.
This company works in four production lines and six fruit vegetable, and generates more than 150 jobs coming to 600 in summer.
Currently, Sogesol is the third largest maker of Fourth Range in Spain and is found especially in the British market and nationally.
