The Governing Council has approved the signing of an agreement between the Autonomous Community, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, with the municipality of Torre Pacheco, the Foundation Ecolec-reference in the management of waste electrical and electronic- The Association for the implementation of computer waste legislation (Reset) and the Association of collection, treatment and recycling of oils and fats (AERT), which will optimize the use of the Centre for Management and Urban Waste Treatment Tower Pacheco.
The agreement aims to protect the environment through the development of projects, studies and pilot projects related to recycling of waste as well as social awareness of environmental protection.
This will especially promote the reuse of waste electrical and electronic storage of waste like household oil collected in the municipalities of the region before being transferred to the treatment plant of Torre Pacheco.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Water held piloted and used as storage center for recycling materials and the bank of materials for reuse.
In addition, the center will develop programs such as 'Recycle' of computers, from the University of Murcia, the regional project to collect used cooking oils and other initiatives aimed at reducing and reusing materials.
The Center for Urban Waste Management, located in the hamlet of Las Rocas de Torre Pacheco, was built with European funds allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water and transferred to the municipality of Torre Pacheco in March 2007.
