As for the outcome of the exhibition, the Council's technical director, Pedro José Pérez Saura, has balanced "positive" CAERM participation in this contest, since, as noted, has allowed us to bring high quality organic products to large audience Murcia. "
Thus, more than 37,000 people, including professionals and the general public, "have been able to see first hand the extensive catalog of products certified by the CAERM" and that includes food and wine, jams, fruit and vegetables, cheese, canned vegetables, fruits dried vegetable pates, oil, coffee and bread, among many others, he explained.
Awakening domestic consumption
Saura Perez explains, "the Region of Murcia is, in percentage terms, a major European areas as far as organic food production is concerned."
However, "our major unresolved domestic consumption remains."
That is why we focus on initiatives such as our participation in 'Murcia Gourmet', and that such fairs allows us to inform the final consumer, who is dependent on the purchasing decision, the enormous advantages of using this type product.
Although consumption in our country remains an unresolved, CAERM technical director says that "society is becoming increasingly sensitized to the consumption of organic food and this is something that we are seeing in sales," said, at the same time notes that "organic food is undoubtedly the most beneficial for our health, as well as friendlier to the environment."
The Region of Murcia intended to 37,600 hectares of organic food production, representing 6.2% of total cultivated area in the region and an increase of 52% over the figures at the end of 2007.
