The new Center for Child Development and Early Childhood Association of Prometheus, to be built in Torre Pacheco, have a capacity for 25 users from zero to six years.
Today, the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, laid the first stone, accompanied by the Managing Director of IMAS, Miguel Angel Miranda, and Mayor Daniel García Madrid.
The construction of the center, with a budget of 573,640 euros, will be done on a plot of 527 square meters, owned by the municipality and allocated to the Association.
The implementation period is one year and is expected to conclude on June 30, 2010.
The building is divided into two floors and is surrounded by gardens and children's play areas.
On the ground floor there will be two assessment rooms, a physiotherapy and other psychomotor, and on the first floor is the speech therapy room.
The Center's goals include reducing the effects of a deficiency or deficit on the overall package of child development, and prevent or reduce side effects caused by or associated disorder, or high risk.
As for funding, so far the Ministry has provided 350,000 euros (75 percent) and Prometheus, 115 804 (25 percent), adding 466,804 euros.
